After preparing the test conditions, the specimen pieces are placed in a heat box. This box has a temperature of 50 ° C and keeps the samples inside for up to 24 hours. It is interesting to know that this box has a circulating fan. This fan makes the temperature the same in all parts of the box.
After 24 hours, remove the samples from the heat box. Then we put these 3 samples in the desiccator to cool and their weight is fixed. It should be noted that after placing the specimens in the desiccator, you must turn the device regularly so that the specimens are cooled evenly. After 4 hours, you can take the specimens out of the machine. It should be noted that at this stage, you must weigh the specimens. If these specimens weigh less than 0.01 g, they are ready for the next steps of the Water absorption test of polystyrene foam.
Then you have to enter the specimens into the repository. Do this with the utmost care; Because the slightest mistake can show you very wrong numbers! Once the specimens are ready, place the fixtures in the tank. These fixtures should be placed at a depth of 1.5 cm below the water surface. After placing the specimens in the tank, go home and rest! Because these specimens must be stored in the tank for 96 hours. Then you have to re-measure their weight. This experiment is very simple.
